It has come to our attention that Homeservice has done a mailing to many of our Utility customers, regarding Water Service Line Coverage. The Town of Menasha Police Department has investigated this company, and it is a valid company. They are offering an insurance program for the possibility of water lateral leak repairs or lateral replacement. The homeowner is responsible for the water line from the property line to the home. A lateral normally lasts a long time, approximately 50 to 100 years, but it is possible that a lateral needs replaced sooner. The Utility sees around 3 or 4 water laterals annually that need to be repaired or replaced. Normally the leak occurs at the fittings/connections. The homeowner needs to decide if this is a type of insurance that you would like to take advantage of.
