In general;
Commissions and Committees terms commence on July 1 and expire on June 30.  (See Resolution #030428-21 – Commissions & Committees Terms of Office)

However, some Commissions and Committees below must follow State Statutes or prior Agreements, rather than the Town’s Municipal Code when determining their terms of office.

Residency in the Town of Menasha is required for all Boards, Commissions & Committees except the Housing Appeals Board member when residency may be waived.

  • PLANNING COMMISSION (§ 62.23) Terms commence May 1 and expire April 30.
  • POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION (§ 60.57) Terms commence June 1 and expire May 31.
    Police & Fire Commission formed by ordinance on 3/22/2010.
  • FIRE DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT PLAN COMMITTEE adheres to their Retirement Plan of July 2002.  Terms commence June 1 and expire May 31.
  • GRAND CHUTE-MENASHA WEST SEWERAGE COMMISSION – Appointment shall coincide with Commissioner’s term of office and shall be for a two-year term.
  • HEALTHY, SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS NEIGHBORHOODS & NETWORKS REVIEW & AUDIT COMMITTEE – Created by Resolution #100614-1. Committee’s purpose is to identify innovative business leaders incorporating healthy, sustainable business practices. Three year terms commence July 1 and expire June 30.
  • NEENAH-MENASHA SEWERAGE COMMISSION adheres to agreement, “Article II, Creation and Powers and Duties of the Commission”.  Meetings are on the 4th Tues. each month. Terms commence January 1 and expire December 31. *The appointment is effective for the completion of the term regardless if the commissioner is re-elected by the Town. Removal is only for just-cause or if the member moves out of the service area.
  • STORMWATER UTILITY COMMISSION – The election to the position of supervisor shall automatically cause the supervisor to be a member of the Commission, except for the Vice President position, which is re-appointed when elected.
  • SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE Created to assist in the development and implementation of a sustainability plan of action and principles. (Town Board of Supervisors Meeting: created February 11, 2008 – Res. #080211-1). Terms are on-going. 
  • ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS – Created by Resolution #130325-1. Board shall hear and decide on administrative appeals and variances, consistent with the requirements of Article 7 of Chapter 31.  Consists of 5 regular members and 2 alternate members. Three year staggered terms commence April 1 and expire March 31.
