COMMUNITY POLICING

Although a major function of the police department is responding to calls for service and investigating those crimes that are committed, the Town of Menasha Police Department also firmly believes in being actively involved in the community.

The police department works collaboratively with other agencies in the programs listed below.  Click on the logo to visit their website for further information.

TRICOM is a Winnebago Countywide coalition of citizens who represent businesses, civic organizations, and schools who work in cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of Winnebago County that is focused upon a caring, safety-conscious, health-driven and crime-free environment

Winnebago County TRIAD is a group of law enforcement, seniors, and community organizations who work together to reduce criminal victimization and increase the quality of life for seniors.

CrimeStoppers is a cooperative effort between law enforcement agencies, the business community, the news media, and the public, to provide law enforcement with information they need to solve crimes.

re:TH!NK is the Winnebago County Health Department’s Tobacco, Alcohol and Drug Free Coalition.  The police department partners in this coalition to combat the rising problem of substance abuse.

Special Olympics Wisconsin provides sports training and competition for nearly 10,000 athletes with cognitive disabilities in 18 different sports year-round.  The police department annually participates in fund raising events such as Lock up a Cop and the Torch Run.

Neighborhood Watch has been active in the Town of Menasha for the past 20 years.  We presently have over 20 neighborhoods participating.  These groups meet throughout the year in a variety of ways.  In addition to neighborhood meetings, the police department sends regular email alerts to the participants.

National Night Out is a nationwide event that takes place in August of each year.   The event is intended for neighborhoods and community members to get together and take a stance against crime.  The Town of Menasha has hosted a community wide event at the municipal complex for many years.  Past events have attracted over 1,000 participants!

The Community Liaison Officer serves on the board for the Wisconsin Crime Prevention Practitioners Association.  This allows for the Town of Menasha to have a voice on the state level and help to initiate new and innovative crime prevention techniques and bring those back to our community.

The Town of Menasha Police Department actively works with the youth in our community.  We present the Officer Friendly program in the elementary schools and the GREAT and CHOICES program in the middle schools.
