Digger's Hotline

All too often, TMFD gets called out for gas lines that have been 'hit' (severed) by a person or company digging.  These type of calls pose a great danger to not only the person that hit the line, but also the responding firefighters, area residences/businesses as well as the general public.  Buried utilities pose a great danger because they can't be seen and you don't know how close you are to them when you're digging.  It's better to be safe than sorry--CALL DIGGER'S HOTLINE IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE USING ANYTHING THE SIZE OF A SHOVEL OR BIGGER!

What is Diggers Hotline:

Diggers Hotline is a not-for-profit company that helps you find the location of buried utility lines that may interfere with your excavation project.

State law requires that you contact Diggers Hotline, either by phone (800) 242-8511, or online three working days before you disturb the soil.  Diggers Hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

Call before you dig!  No matter where you live, the gas, electric, cable TV, water and sewer lines that serve you and your neighbor may very likely be underground.
