An overlay district is usually superimposed over conventional zoning districts and is used to establish alternative land development requirements. In this instance the Town will be looking at sustainable practices that a developer, builder or town business owner can choose to implement.
Why would I want to consider sustainable practice?
In return, the developer, builder or town business owner would be given an incentive to encourage it to implement a sustainable practice. A sustainable practice is one that is considered environmentally-friendly; it uses resources responsibly and protects the environment.
