The Wisconsin Department of Administration- Division of Housing has created the Household Housing Guide to aid low to moderate income households.  The guide identifies public sources of financial and informational assistance, including home purchases, owner-occupied rehabilitation and improvements, and residential rental services.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Savers site provides many links related to home efficiency and renewable energy. Tax credits/breaks can also be applied to home improvements.

The EPA’s Energy Star site provides energy efficiency information on household products, home improvement, existing buildings and new homes. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a trove of useful tools and information, such as the benefits or disadvantages of buying vs. renting, advice on buying homes, and tips to avoid foreclosure, etc.
