2012 TREE AND BRUSH CHIPPING PROGRAMS AND POLICY

Spring Program: Starts in April and extends for four (4) weeks.

Summer Program: Starts in June and extends through September (one week per month).

Fall Program: Starts mid-October extending for five (5) weeks.

Christmas Tree Pick Up: Second full week in January on garbage day.

PLEASE REFER TO THE GARBAGE/RECYCLING CALENDAR FOR SPECIFIC DATES.

CURBSIDE POLICY

  1. Curbside collection is available to Town of Menasha residents only.
  2. The routes will coincide with your regular garbage collection day. Tree and brush material must be placed at the curbside by 6:30 a.m., but no earlier than 48 hours prior to your regular garbage collection day - per town ordinance.
  3. All brush and branches will be neatly and loosely placed off along the shoulder of the road (not tied or bundled) with the cut end of the branches facing the roadway.  Brush and branch piles shall be stacked in a single row only, no higher than five (5’) ft in height.
  4. Branches shall not exceed six (6”) inches in diameter. The longer the branch is the easier and safer it is for our crews to handle, however, the branch shall not exceed 50 pounds in weight.
  5. In the event town crews cannot complete the collection route on your scheduled pick-up, brush and branch pick-up will continue that week until the route(s) are completed.
  6. Professional services used to cut down large amounts of trees or brush should remove their own materials.
  7. Any violation of the Tree and Brush Policy will be tagged for such violation and will not be picked up until the violation is corrected.
  8. In the event you somehow miss your scheduled pick-up, brush and branches may be taken to the drop-off center on Shady Ln or to the Winnebago County Landfill in Oshkosh.
  9. The Town of Menasha will pick up tree and brush material at condominium complexes and/or on private roads if the condominium association or owners of the private road provides the Street Superintendent with a declaration or assurances whereby easements are granted to operate on the private road for the collection of garbage & recycling removal.

The Street Superintendent, however, reserves the right to designate the pick-up area if the layout of the private street prevents the proper maneuvering of the tree and brush pick-up equipment.

  1. Town-Wide Storm Policy:  The street superintendent or designee will determine, in the event of a high wind storm and/or trees struck by lightening, if the town chipper will be sent out for clean-up above and beyond its normal chipping schedule.

DROP-OFF CENTER POLICY

1.     The drop-off center is open and available during the Tree and Brush Chipping Program to Town of Menasha residents only. This drop-off center will accept all brush, tree branches, small stumps less than 12” in diameter, and roots with intact root balls.

2.     Contracted or professional services may NOT use the drop-off center!

3.     Wood chips will be available to Town residents at 1422 E. Shady Ln, Neenah, during daylight hours, while supplies last. Residents are required to do their own loading.

The drop-off center is currently located at 1422 E. Shady Lane.  The drop-off center is open during daylight hours – every day during the chipping program.  Neat stacking of material is greatly appreciated!  No dumping of leaves, grass clippings, garden materials, tires or car batteries will be accepted!  Violations will result in closure of the drop-off center.  You abuse it – you will lose it!

VIOLATIONS OF THE TREE AND BRUSH CHIPPING POLICY WILL BE TAGGED. FAILURE TO REMOVE SUCH MATERIAL WITHIN 24 HOURS COULD RESULT IN A CITATION BEING ISSUED FOR VIOLATION OF ORDINANCE 10.03(7), RESULTING IN A CITATION PLUS COURT COSTS.
