The Town of Menasha is a residential and industrial community of approximately 17,000 people, located in the Fox Cities metropolitan area. The department consists of 26 sworn officers and 7 civilian employees. 		MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. AGE a) Minimum age 18 b) Birth Certificate required 2. CITIZENSHIP a) U.S. Citizen 3. EDUCATION Applicants must possess from an accredited university, college or technical school an: a) Associate Degree in Police Science OR b) Bachelor's Degree OR c) A minimum of sixty (60) college credits d) Transcripts must be sent with the application before an application is accepted and processed. 4. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS a) Ability to perform the essential functions of this position; and the ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment. 5. DRIVER'S LICENSE a) Applicants must possess a valid unrestricted Wisconsin driver's license or be eligible for one at the time of application. 6. GOOD MORAL CHARACTER a) An applicant shall have no felony conviction record, as this factor will prohibit them from lawfully carrying a firearm. b) An applicant shall have no state misdemeanor conviction record for crimes involving moral turpitude, as this factor will jeopardize their credibility as a departmental witness. c) An applicant shall have no second convictions for Operating While Intoxicated, Operating While Suspended, Operating Without a Valid Driver's License, or Attempting to Elude an Officer or a first conviction for any of these offenses within the past three years prior to application as this factor will jeopardize their credibility as a department witness and may unreasonably subject the town to increased civil liability. d) An applicant shall have no pending cases for any of the a), b) or c) offenses at the time of application. e) An applicant shall have no pending civil cases that may adversely affect job related responsibilities. Failure to meet these requirements shall be cause for rejection of application. TESTING PROCESS The testing/selection process is expected to take approximately four to six months. 1. After Conditional Offer of Employment: a) Psychological Examination b) Medical Examination with drug screening c) Probationary Period-18 months REAPPLICATION The Town of Menasha allows reapplication, retesting, and reevaluation of candidates unless the condition(s) which previously eliminated them from appointment are of a nature that rejection is assured. Applicants rejected may reapply after a one year wait. When reapplying, the applicant will start the screening process from the beginning.
