Minutes

 

1.    CALL TO ORDER, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Town Chair Arden Tews called the Regular Meeting of the Town Board of Supervisors to order at 6:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

2.    AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS  

       a)    PowerPoint Presentation by Recreation Supervisor Thone         

       Rec. Supv. Becky Thone stated approx. 250 people attended “Music in the Parks”. She thanked Emily Hess for filling in while she was on family leave.  She further thanked the summer workers who helped out this summer. 

       Supv. Thone showed a PowerPoint presentation of children’s activities, field trips, sports and other events. (See attached)

      

       b)    PowerPoint Presentation by Lieutenant Tim Seaver

       Admin. Lt. Tim Seaver gave a PowerPoint presentation showing his vast experience at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA from April 3 to June 11, 2004.   

                                                                      

3.   PUBLIC FORUM – NON-AGENDIZED TOWN RELATED MATTERS

                      Limited to Ten Minutes – Non-Repetitive Matters

         Pursuant to WI State Statutes 19.83(2) and 19.84(2), the public may present matters; however, they cannot

         be discussed or acted upon until specific notice of the subject matter of the proposed action can be given.

   

       Reg. of Deeds candidate Julie Pagel introduced herself and reported her past experience, education and other pertinent data that would enable her to hold this office in the most efficient way with friendly and accurate results. Candidate Pagel further handed out informational brochures for the Sept. 14th Partisan Primary.                 

 

       Resident Jerry Walker of 1616 Delta Drive requested a “Caution Children at Play” sign.

11.  REPORTS

       a)    Other Town Officials

¨      Police Chief McCants – Citizen’s Police Academy

       Police Chief McCants explained the Citizen’s Police Academy program, handed out brochures (attached) and encouraged participation.  The Academy meets in the Police Dept. training room on Monday evenings beginning Sept. 13 from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

 

12.   MOTIONS BY SUPERVISORS

At 6:47 p.m., MOTION: Handevidt/Sauer to convene into closed session pursuant to 19.85(1)(e) of the WI State Statutes; deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session, specifically to discuss the purchase of property for Palisades Drainage.  Motion carried.

 

Present:  Chairman Arden Tews; Supervisors Scott Sauer, Jerry Jurgensen & Russ Handevidt;

Attorney Greg Curtis; Assessor Richard Eiberger & Appraiser David Gagnow (representing the Town of Menasha).

 

Discussion ensued regarding the appraisal of 2 ½ acres of land at a price of $40,000 per acre or total of $100,000 for the purpose of creating a drainage basin.  The property is owned by Palisades Property, Inc., parcel #008-0040.  (See Attached Document). 

 

At  8:12 p.m., MOTION:  Handevidt/Jurgensen pursuant to 19.85(2) of the WI State Statutes; the Town Board will reconvene into open session to act on any business discussed in closed session.  Motion carried.

 

MOTION:  Handevidt/Sauer to purchase 2 ½ acres of land (parcel #008-0040) for a price of $40,000 per acre (Total $100,000).  This purchase will be utilized for the purpose of creating a drainage basin in order to alleviate flooding problems in the area.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The Board members also directed the Town Chairman and Town Clerk to sign necessary documents for this transaction.

 

13.  ADJOURNMENT

At 8:14 p.m., MOTION: Handevidt/Sauer to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Town Board of Supervisors.  Motion carried.
