PARK COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES                               July 9, 2003

 

Park Commissioners Present: Richard Gawinski, Roy Kuehn, Judy Holtz, John Zaborsky, and Clarence Peterson

 

Excused: Commissioners Herb Horn and Commissioner Glen Allen, and Mary Heiting Bookkeeper

 

 

Also Present: Park Foreman Ronald Pavlak, Director of Comm. Dev. George Dearborn, Supervisor Barbara Hanson, Administrator Jim Archambo, and Becky Thone, Recreation Supervisor

 

 

The meeting was held at the Community Center and was called to order by Richard Gawinski, President, at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call taken.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES AND EXPENDITURES

MOTION: Commissioner Clarence Peterson, seconded by Commissioner Roy Kuehn reviewed the June 25, 2003 minutes and made a motion to approve.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The Commissioners reviewed the July 9, 2003 expenditures in the amount of $3,908.48.

MOTION: Commissioner Roy Kuehn, seconded by Commissioner John Zaborsky to approve the July 9, 2003 bills as submitted.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

PUBLIC FORUM and / or CORRESPONDENCE    None

 

REPORTS   Park Foreman Ron Pavlak:

Ron reported that the Park Department has received numerous complements on the condition of the parks over the summer months.

 

The park team will be replacing numerous posts in all of the parks.

 

Superior Electric submitted a quote of $2,250.00 to upgrade the electrical service in the concession stand / garage at Palisades Park.

 

Winnebago County will move the 3 donated pine trees to Fritsch Park the week of 7/21/03. 

 

The Human Services Department of Winnebago County will offer free summer help which will start on 8/11/03.

 

The commissioners reviewed the final design for “Palisades Handicapped Exercise Area” sign.

 

The restroom facilities at the Community Center continue to cause problems.  John Zaborsky will contact Bruce Municipal Equipment to explore the possibility of getting the use of a sewer camera at no charge.

 

Ron Pavlak will contact the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to obtain a permit to allow us to kill the weeds in the pond at Schildt Park.

 

The price of blacktop appears to be going down.  We will contact three paving contractors for updated quotes.

 

Becky Thone:

We are now in the 4th week of our eight-week summer programs.

 

Becky reviewed various programs and upcoming events.

 

St. John of Menasha Parish donated two juvenile tables and chairs and some children’s toys to the Community Center.

Commissioner Judy Holtz asked that the brush at Butte des Morts Park, be cut back.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

MOTION: Commissioner Roy Kuehn, seconded by Commissioner Clarence Peterson to nominate Richard Gawinski for President by Commission.  Motion approved unanimously.

 

MOTION: Commissioner Clarence Peterson, seconded by Commissioner John Zaborsky to nominate Roy Kuehn for Vice-President of the Park Commission.  Motion approved unanimously.

 

MOTION: Commissioner Richard Gawinski, seconded by Commissioner Clarence Peterson to nominate John Zaborsky for Secretary of the Park Commission.  Motion approved unanimously.

 

MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT BY COMMISSIONERS

Motion by Commissioner John Zaborsky, seconded by Commissioner Judy Holtz to adjourn the July 9, 2003 meeting at 8:28 pm.  Motion approved unanimously.
