PARK COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES                                                  September 25,    2002

 

Members Present:         Commissioners: John Zaborsky, Richard Gawinski, Roy Kuehn, Herb Horn, Glen Allen and Commissioner Clarence Peterson

 

Excused:                       Becky Thone, Recreation Supervisor, and Commissioner Judy Holtz

The meeting was held at the Community Center and was called to order by Richard Gawinski, President, at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call taken.

 

MOTION: Commissioner Allen, seconded  Commissioner  Peterson  to approve  the minutes  of  September 11, 2002.   Motion carried unanimously.

 

The Commissioners reviewed the expenditure list in the amount of $2.963.70.  MOTION: Commissioner Kuehn, seconded by Commissioner Peterson to approve the bills as submitted.   Motion carried unanimously.

 

RON'S REPORT

The Park Commissioners took a tour of the Activity Room where recently new lighting had been installed.  The Town has already received positive comments on the additional lighting in this room.

 

The Town Board budget hearings have gone through all of the departmentals and the review of all budgets will be held October 1 at the Municipal Complex.  A number of Commissioners voiced attending this budget hearing that evening.

 

A resident in the Town, Elaine Balke has been working closely with Foreman Ron Pavlak to plant wild flowers along certain areas.  The areas would include near trails, in certain park areas, and along the west side of the Municipal Complex driveway. 

 

The Green Bay office of Muscular Dystrophy had contacted the park department to hold a Frisbee golf tournament on December 14th.  She was advised that the park is open all year and the north shelter would have a portable restroom for their convenience. 

 

There was a party at O’Hauser Park on Sunday that had an excess number of guests expected.  This generated a large amount of garbage which blew into the neighboring field.  The neighbors also contacted the Police Department about the loud noise.  Much discussion ensued about fines and fees regarding this issue. 

 

Wittmann Park was presented as the current park study.  A list of proposed improvements prepared in 1999 was reviewed.  Also the list of existing equipment prepared by Foreman Pavlak was studied.   It was suggested that Schildt Park on the west side be the next park for review.

PUBLIC FORUM

Commissioner Kuehn reviewed the condition of the remaining equipment at Palisades Park, where in 1980 a wheelchair exercise course had been constructed.   In 1991 through a grant from a local hospital a wheelchair swing was installed.  Commissioner Kuehn would like to see if replacements be included in the future for this area.

Motion Commissioner Horn; seconded Commissioner Kuehn to adjourn the September 25, 2002 meeting at 8:30 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
