PARK COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES                                                             January 9, 2002

 

Members Present:         Commissioners: John Zaborsky, Theresa Bolwerk, Richard Gawinski, Roy Kuehn, Herb Horn, and Glen Allen

 

Also Present:                Ron Krueger Director of Parks & Recreation and Ronald Pavlak, Assistant Park Foreman; and Mary Heiting Bookkeeper

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  The meeting was held at the Community Center and was called to order by Richard Gawinski, President, at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call taken.

 

MOTION: Commissioner Allen seconded Commissioner Bolwerk to approve the minutes of the December 12th meeting.   Motion carried unanimously.

 

The 2001 bill list in the amount of $1,903.31 was reviewed.  MOTION: Commissioner Kuehn, seconded Commissioner Allen to approve the bills as submitted.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The 2002 bill list in the amount of $1,213.66 was reviewed.  MOTION: Commissioner Kuehn, seconded Commissioner Allen to approve the bills as submitted.   Motion carried unanimously.

 

PUBLIC FORUM

 

RON'S REPORT  - Director Krueger stated that he has been trying to reach Engineer Dave Pheifer.  Jason Pheifer is willing to help with the design phase of Fritse Park and feels the Pheifer Engineering firm could help with this park project.

 

Ron Krueger stated that the bids for the 1-ton truck and 10-ft dump box were published and opened on January 4, 2002 in the assembly room of the municipal complex.  It appears that Fox Valley Truck (GMC) met the specifications.  Monroe Truck was the low bidder for the specifications on the dump box.  The bid awards will go to the Town Board at their January 14th meeting and after acceptance he will proceed to order.

 

Due to the calm weather this winter season the park crew was able to complete several park projects.  The baseball fields also had lime brought in for the diamonds.

 

Director Krueger requested suggestions from the Commissioners for the purchase of playground equipment.  The property previously designated Glenview Waterworks will have the old apparatus removed and suggested ideas for this area.  Commissioner Horn suggested that covered picnic tables be constructed.  The Commissioners would like to see the neighboring residents help with naming this new park.  It was suggested that a survey to the neighboring residents be drafted and reviewed at the February Commission meeting.

 

The Commissioners reviewed the process for having a Bocce Ball field constructed at Palisades Park along the Community Center driveway.  Staff will review how to construct this field and find more information on Bocce Ball fields.

 

BECKY'S REPORT  -  Becky Thone, Recreation Supervisor was excused but presented the final quarter calendar of 2001.  The January Bridge issue mailed to residents included a copy of the Spring classes.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Director Krueger confirmed that a Town Board meeting coming up January 28th would have a presentation on the nature park.  He suggested that all of the Commissioners try to attend this public meeting at 6:00 p.m. on January 28, 2002.

 

MOTION BY COMMISSIONERS

Motion Commissioner Kuehn, seconded Commissioner Zaborsky to adjourn the January 9, 2002 meeting at 8:00 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
